In June 1996 the GPS-Netz Ziviltechniker GmbH. (ZT), an alliance of 116 Austrian engineering consultants, car- ried out a nationwide survey in order to establish a GPS-network with a mean point to point distance of about 25 km (AREF = Austrian Reference Frame). Despite the large number of about 330 network points to be occupied in 24 hours sessions, the campaign covers a period of only 10 days. This remarkable short duration demonstrates the willingness of the people involved and proves the carefully planned logistics behind the execution of the field work.
