Chateau Mildura and the Chaffey brothers: the beginnings of winegrowing along the Murray

We don't need reminding that the majority of Australia's winegrapes come from the Murray Darling and Lower Murray zones. Yet, how often do we hear of the beginnings of winegrowing in the Murray irrigation area? While the name Chaffey is reasonably well known, the two brothers' contribution to winegrowing in the Mildura and Renmark areas has been barely noted by most of our wine histories.
