Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force Increases Participation in Asia-Pacific Exercises

Being the most modern naval force in the Asia-Pacific region, the Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF) has all the capability to perform a variety of missions, from protecting its exclusive economic zone, to be one of the main elements in humanitarian assistance to disaster relief missions in their home country and abroad. This is done so in light of the increasing current challenges in maritime security, which makes the JMSDF constantly improving the security environment, in co-operation with the international community. Toward this end, the Force has been continuously being training its unit to prepare for any contingencies that affect the island-nation. In the recent years, JMSDF participation in international exercises has increased, especially with nations in the Pacific.
