Inaugural ASEAN-China Maritime Drills

Naval forces of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member states and China on Oct 27 completed the at-sea phase of the first ASEAN-China Maritime Exercise which is aimed at building trust and rapport among the various navies and reducing misunderstandings at sea. The exercise spanned five days from Oct 22 to 27 and concluded with a field training exercise in Zhanjiang, Guangdong province, China. ASEAN includes Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
