Future Airpower Trends In Asia-Pacific

Chastened by the two major airpower campaigns in the Middle East and Balkans in the 1990s, the Asia-Pacific region's numerically-strong air forces, i.e. China, India, Japan and South Korea, are now in the midst of implementing far-reaching force modernisation plans aimed at achieving all-weather air dominance over the battlespace. In addition, the realisation of such plans will also witness the large-scale induction of standoff precision guided-munitions (PGM) employing optronic and GPS tenninal guidance systems for surgical strikes.
