Malaysia, US Forces in Exercise Keris Strike

The bilateral Keris Strike exercise took place in Malaysian east coast of Kelantan and Terengganu. Some 540 United States Army Pacific Command (USARPAC) personnel, which are based in Hawaii and 638 personnel from the Malaysian Army trained together from Sept 13-26, 2014 in the 18 th iteration of the wargame. Keris Strike exercise is a series of combined training held each year involving the formation of 8 brigades under the army's 2nd division. This year's series of drills have evolved and progressed, dwelling on the experiences from the previous years' exercises. For the first time, Strykers trained on Malaysian soil, unmanned aircraft systems flew in and around Kota Bharu, and the USARPAC 25th Infantry Division successfully established a forward-deployed, division-level command node, known as the Early Entry Command Post, known as an EECP, which provides the commanding general real time feedback and updates to make decisions and implement courses of actions.
