A Day in the Life of a Soldier-Virtual, Simulated Training at Sea

While ammunition and training expenditures are a growing concern internationally for defence organisations, it's readiness and training quality that continue to bring simulation to the training forefront. Live, virtual, and constructive training remains the anticipated path for most countries and their defence agencies. With decreasing troop numbers and training time between deployments, simulation is the force and time multiplier. Live training is defined as a simulation involving real people operating real systems. Military training events using real equipment are live simulations. They are considered simulations because they are not conducted against a live enemy, while virtual is a simulation involving real people operating simulated systems. Virtual simulations inject a human-in-the-loop into a central role by exercising motor control skills (eg, flying jet or tank simulator), decision making skills (eg, committing fire control resources to action), or communication skills (eg, as members of a C~4I team).
