Paris Air Show 2015: Flying High Again Amid the Storm

With about 2,300 exhibitors and amid the background of mixed economic environment in Europe and elsewhere, the Paris Air Show at Le Bourget was back in force for the defence sector along with its much larger civilian aerospace showing. There was a large number of combat aircraft on display, some 120 aeroplanes on the ground and 20 flying, making a strong turnabout from its last staging in 2013. The French Defence Procurement Agency (DGA) said a total of 151 defence delegations and 17 defence ministers or their representatives, including those from the Asia-Pacific, visited the show. The air show was inaugurated by French president, Francois Hollande on June 15. French prime minister, Manuel Valls paid a visit and made a speech on June 19 when the exhibition opened to the general public.
