The Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO) is one of seven organisations under the purview of the Netherlands' Ministry of Defence. It oversees pro-curement, weapon systems management, IT and the supply of ammunition, clothing and fuel for the navy, army, air force and military police. The specific task of weapon systems management is to ensure that the assets and equipment adheres to the specified standard throughout its life cycle. During a visit to the region recently, ADJ gets some insights from VAdm (E) de Waard on the current Netherlands defence modernisation programmes and the future direction of the Netherlands Armed Forces.
