HTC to ship 10 million 4G-enabled smart-phones in 2011

Taiwan-based smartphone maker HTC is aiming to launch more than 10 million 4G-enabed (WiMAX or LTE) devices in 2011. In 2010, the company had sold 3.5 million 4G smartphones. These included 3 million units of EVO for Sprint and nearly 500,000 shipments of HSPA+ myTouch for T-Mobile. In fact, these contributed 14 percent to its overall shipments in the year. HTC now plans to sell newer 4G-enabled devices to the likes of Sprint, Verizon Wireless and other European/Japanese service providers. It has already launched a new Android 2.2-based smartphone called the HTC EVO Shift 4G based on Qualcomm MSM7630 processor.
