In its mounter business, Sony Manufacturing Systems Corporation has embarked on a new set up by zeroing on Sony Assist. This new system aims to improve the company's customers' productivity by making the most of Sony's production technologies. Katsunori Ishii, Corporate Executive and Senior General Manager of the company's Surface Mounter Division, says, "We will actively forge good personal relationships with customers. Productiv- ity is significantly affected not only by the machine's performance, but also by how to use and maintain it. We will fundamentally change the way of thinking of the conventional after-sale services, which were focused on repair and maintenance, and provide a service to support production launch (by offering) a package (integrated) with machines. This will be done through concerted efforts with our manufacturing member (Sony EMCS) who is well-versed in Sony's product development."
