University Laboratory System

摘要

The University of Michigan is one of the premier research institu-tions in the United States. In May 1998, the university embarked on a study of the rapidly developing fields of the Life Sciences by forming the President's Commission on the Life Sciences, which led to the enhancement of collaboration and exchange of ideas across a range of academic and medical disciplines. To achieve the desired collaboration, the northeast corner of the university's central campus required a physical transformation. As a result, the Life Sciences Institute was created to foster basic and translational research.
