When medical-surgical supply distributor Bergen Brunswig Medical Corp. wanted to consolidate systems and reduce overhead, it had to choose between its mainframes and AS/400s. The choice was found in a software package that had originally been installed for commercial outsourcing. The software BBMC chose was an integrated supply chain solution focusing on inventory management, distribution management and financial accounting from IBS. Monitoring of customer licenses is automated now and foolproof, so that the wrong classification of drug can never be shipped to an unlicensed party. The IBS software enables BBMC to efficiently manage 180,000 stock-keeping units and complex pricing structures, not to mention millions of manufacturer rebates every month.
