This autumn marks two significant dates. The first is that 2017 marks the 85th anniversary of the foundation of the BRA in November 1932 and we will be celebrating this after our AGM and Bond lecture at the end of October. Ours has never been a large organisation, (though we still have about 500 members - individuals, institutional and subscribers to the journal), but the Association has achieved a great deal since, in the years after the end of World War I, the country recognised that its archives were at risk. Despite all the changes that have happened since then, our basic aim and focus on the care and preservation of archives remains unchanged. Success in our work has been the result of hard work by many dedicated volunteers who have given their time and expertise to advising on archives, surveying records, running the Records Preservation Section, editing and publishing our journal, producing guides and occasional publications, and organising conferences and meetings.
