Johannes Peter Hoelzinger?There is no need to feel ashamed if this name does not mean much to you. Born in 1936 in Bad Nauheim, just 40 kilometres north of Frankfurt am Main, he has always worked in such a highly individual, consistent and uncompromising way that he has never attracted major commissions - or the attention that generally goes with them.This makes it all the more important that now a comprehensive monographic exhibition in the Deutsches Architekturmuseum (DAM), curated by Yorck Foerster, introduces Hoelzinger as someone who traverses the boundary between architecture and visual art. The basis of and the reason for the exhibition is the premature legacy consisting of numerous sketches, drawings, models and sculptures, which the architect donated last year to the DAM on the occasion of his 75th birthday.
