Unerring The winery is a successful liaison between viniculture and architecture. Back at the end of the 1970s, when Josef Högl decided to concentrate the agricultural business he had inherited from his father completely on wine-growing, in cultivating his vineyards covering an area of around ten hectares this wine grower with an immense knowledge of the region decided to focus on white wine: here it is mostly Riesling and Grüner Veltliner that are produced. His approach in selecting a partner to design the extension and conversion of his buildings was equally clearly focused. Elmar Ludescher + Philip Lutz convinced him through their sensitive approach to the place and the precise way in which they recorded its topography and the dimensions of the existing buildings before starting design work back in Bregenz. Their "first version" met the wishes of the client, who had visited winery architecture in Styria and Burgenland, so exactly that all that remained was to design the interior of the building with the same degree of precision to suit the various processes carried out there.
