Plenty of experience It all began about twenty years ago when Zechner & Zechner Architekten won the competition for the redesign of the train stations in Graz, Amstetten, Villach and Woergl that was aimed at giving them a modern update. "These stations were dilapidated and run-down", Christoph Zechner recalls. "Something really needed to be done." This was back before the railway station modernisation program. A short time later they were commissioned to produce a corporate design manual for the ÖBB (Austrian Federal Railways). Zechner & Zechner are convinced that presenting a positive image to the public is even more important for a services business than for a manufacturing company. "For passengers, transportation stations represent the initial encounter that forms the image, and often they represent the entire railway company. They are visiting cards and should therefore be unmistakable and easy to find", say Zechner & Zechner.
