In Hard , the "Hard-Fussach Waterworks", a listed building, is a fascinating red brick water tower that dates from 1906. It was closed down in 1946. The district administration of Bregenz instructed the community to establish a protected area there, but the dense settlement made this impossible. The community then began a search, which extended over twenty years, for another place with ground water where a new ground water pumping station could be built.
