Torghatten Mountain in the Helgeland coast is a famous tourist attraction, and "the mountain with the hole has always been a part of many local stories and myths. The idea of making the natural tunnel more accessible to visitors is therefore rather controversial. The 160-meter cave has openings in both ends and offers a spectacular south-western view over the Norwegian Sea horizon. The cave has a rocky floor, and in certain areas, stones are still falling from the ceiling during springtime. The proposed footbridge spans from one opening to the other, and leads the visitors through the hole, over the inaccessible heaps of fallen stones.
