This is on the same property as the Horse Stables (pp. 74-77), of which I am a partner. A few years after building the Horse Stables, I built a temporary church in Pereira, Colombia, because the main cathedral was damaged in an earthquake and was closed for renovation. The temporary church was destroyed as soon as the main church reopened. My partners then asked me to rebuild this temple on our terrain in Cartagena. The temple I built in Pereira was in an urban area, right in front of the cathedral's main plaza and diagonal. This temple, in Cartagena, was in the middle of nowhere in a rural piece of land. We excavated a large pond and planned for the temple to sit in its seat, with water all around. The most challenging part was cementation because the soil was very bad. The bamboo Guadua structure was built very fast and at a low cost. Cement mortar and Spanish clay tiles formed the roof. It has a central nave of 8 m and 2 lateral naves of 4 m in width. These are the dimensions for most of the small Catholic churches in Colombia. We decided that this temple, however, would be non-denominational, simply a spiritual space.
