In architectural circles there is currently quite a deal of debate about how a building is conceived. Where does the generative idea come from? There are two distinct sides to the debate. On one hand there are those who argue that form and plan should be closely connected to techniques of construction, materials, detailing and structural considerations, a tectonic approach; and on the other, those that search outside "architecture's inferiority" for generative ideas.
