摘要

This is an alternative commentary to the parade of usual suspects habitually 'infesting'* media opinion, a viewpoint not reliant on the tyranny of The Sydney Morning Herald database, or Google-searched identities. Once again Paul Keating was encouraged recently, (The Sydney Morning Herald, 7 October 2008) and gave oxygen to expound his seemingly favourite viewpoint... the demolition of so-called 'eyesores' to offer sweeping static vistas [of Sydney]. It appears to be a perplexing serial obsession. Many people acknowledge that Mr Keating was instrumental in positive economic and political initiatives for the country, and of course, one does not need professional architectural or town-planning qualifications to participate in valid community civic discussion. Furthermore, most architects welcome involvement of celebrity, as architecture gets so little 'airspace'... architects are to blame for this as they continually promote elitist language couched in deliberate obfuscation.
