This issue of the Bulletin is timely as architects and others worldwide grapple with how we can make a difference and address this real and dangerous predicament we see ahead. The UN secretary-general Antonio Guterres remarked in September 2018: 'If we do not change course by 2020, we risk missing the point where we can avoid runaway climate change, with disastrous consequences for people and all the natural systems that sustain us.'
