One of the most memorable aspects of Gehry's Bilbao Guggenheim are the views between its shiny and volatile forms, and the static but dramatic scenery of the landscape which packs tightly against the city limits. Though its form is far less demonstrative - the architects describe it as like a 'black slate' -this building evokes a similar sense of mediating between nature and the city with its gridded plan and regular facades.
