Between the sacred and the profane: relations of art and architecture

In this final issue of the Reviews & Insight section of arq, as it has been reformulated for vol.18, three pieces of writing are presented that explore relationships constructed between art, architecture and the forces behind the spaces of their production. Over the past year, R&I has undergone a subtle shift of mode. Our broadly thematic approach to each issue has been underpinned by a certain specific position on engaging critically in the reading of contexts. Our Letter From... has presented four different cities' conditions through lenses of housing, tower building and informal development. Our series of interviews have embedded current practice in the context out of which it emerges, and our reviews of contemporary exhibitions and publications have sought to question their relevance to both the profession and the academy.
