Library Project of great-depth underground construction to save the historic campus space It is a projecdt to establish the annex with the automation library of 3million stores and the library plaza for creative learning in the basement of the open space in front of General Library, as the solution of site lack and the security of space for a new learning method. Pneumatic Caisson Method was adopted for safe construction under the ground. The fountain was maintained as the leading fire prevention water tank of the open space in combination with the top light leading natural light to the underground. Wooden canopy of domestic cedar pure materials has moderate diffusion effect of noise and the refresh effect by the fragrance of the cedar, besides humidity regulating function. The air conditioning puts a radiation panel and full-scale floor air send-out air conditioning system together, which makes the comfortable, calm indoor environment with no signs of current of air. The silent nature was secured by finish with acoustic absorption with double existence aperture sounding boards varying in the size of the aperture on the circular wall. Its history was visualized to be recognized as a place of the archives by regenerating the remains of the brick basics of former library destroyed by fire by the Great Kanto Earthquake, as a bench and a floor pattern of the open space.
