Mediaisation, immaterialisation, digitalisation are aspects of a new materialism that will suck off the Last bit of substance clinging to architectural surfaces. Nonetheless, for effects and achievement capability they top everything that up to now seemed possible. In this context one speaks less of facades and more often of skin or, more neutrally, of sheaths and surfaces.
