摘要

Karl Ganser, the prime author of the Emscher Park Building Exhibition (IBA Emscher), has described how he finds suburban settlement patterns a more insidious form of brownfield than disused industrial sites. Mobility has replaced industry as the great agent of contaminatic This project deals with a very specific and extreme form of mobility, namely forced migration. As in more normative cases, human mobility does not translate into ephemeral or temporary consequences for the environment. In fact, refugee camps are often lasting and urban in denotative terms of infrastructure, density and morphology. Deborah Gans and Matthew Jelacic present them as an enormous challenge and opportunity in themselves, and as an extreme lens through which to re-examine conditions of the everyday.
