Over the last decade, architecture in Iran has witnessed a dramatic shift after a long period of confusion. This seems to suggest a transition from a situation where architects either uncritically followed Western movements or superficially replicated historical forms, to a period in which they are beginning to establish a generative feedback between their context and broader global movements. As Hadi Mirmiran argued in his lecture at the Architectural Association (AA) in London in 1996, great works of architecture across the globe and at different times share similar values.
