DIVERSE CITY: A SUSTAINABLE MODEL FOR THE NEW NORTHBRIDGE CODA

This project develops a complete view of sustainability that merges the three spheres of sustainabilty: economy and business, environments, social and community. This project embraces diversity and openness, supporting the vision for Perth to be a 'creative capital' - where the urban and architectural design relects the intent to foster creativity, innovation and a sense of community. Diverse City: Vertical intergration of apartments with the street with communal space available for commercial, social or cultural exchanges. Occupancy is to be tailored to "new economy" modes of working, supporting a diverse and productive population within a community context. Flexible fit apartments allow for live/work combinations, supported by a shared common space that can be gallery, meeting room, lounge or studio. Alternative income can be derived from rental of the space to others for the benefit of the cluster occupants.
