It's worth examining some of the impacts that buildings with high quality design have on regional townships - and highlighting some of the challenges. From our experience an excellent design process and product is highly valued in regional communities, and a single building can have a disproportionately positive impact on the place and the community. There is real potential for a mini Bilbao or mini MoNA effect in stimulating change and helping bridge the design culture divide, moving the locus of a town away from the powerful anchor of the local supermarket or bakery.
