This stark sentiment on competitiveness has become a well-accepted axiom of business. A corollary to this axiom is that much, if not most, innovation is driven or enabled by technology. Technology is the know-how we apply to basic science or to previously developed products, tools, and processes to fashion a solution to a new need— whether the need is internal or from the customer.
