Trade-offs and performance limitations in mechatronic systems: a case study

摘要

In this paper, the central issue of performance limitations is addressed in the context of design and control of mechatronic systems. Limitations arising at the component and system levels are both discussed. Presentation is made through a case study on atomic force microscopes (AFMs). Results from modeling, analysis, simulations and experiments are used to motivate and demonstrate several trade-offs and performance limitations in AFM.
