Managers focus on communication

Often it is not what we say but how we say it that matters. This year's AWWA-Water Environment Federation Joint Management Conference focuses on the importance of communication and devotes several sessions to helping utility managers communicate effectively with the public and the media. An interactive opening session Sunday afternoon sets the tone for the conference. Jack Mannion, former executive director of AWWA, and lecturer-writer Arch Lustberg join conference committee co-chairs Linda Faulkner-Vaughn and Steven Graef in a panel discussion on how to communicate effectively. Mannion draws on his experience as an industry executive, writer, trainer, broadcaster, and public speaker. A seasoned public speaker, Lustberg heads a successful communications firm.
