Xylem's Let's Solve Water Challenge Pumps Up Students' Imagination

Find a solution to building the most efficient water pump-this was the challenge more than 100 high school students from Rochester, N.Y., took on as part of the inaugural Let's Solve Water Challenge sponsored by Xylem Applied Water Systems, a water technology provider headquartered in White Plains, N.Y. Xylem engineers kicked off the two-week competition that brought together Rochester community robotic teams from eight local high schools. Students were introduced to the challenges of designing and building a water pump before receiving a motor and battery case and a total budget of $50.
