There now exists a variety of thorough textbooks on multilevel regression, a general analysis approach to nested data, also referred to as hierarchical linear models, random coefficient models, or mixed models that vary along the accessible-technical continuum (e.g., Goldstein 2003; Hox 2010; Raudenbush and Bryk 2002). The purpose of these texts is usually to provide an introductory coverage of all the basic concepts, although they often include a chapter or two on more advanced extensions or applications, such as multilevel structural equation models or models for cross-classified data.
