Eric Stubin, director of operations and sales for Trans-Americas Trading Co., is not bragging when he says he can ship a second-hand T-shirt from New York to Africa for less than the cost of a U.S. postage stamp. To survive in the rough-and-tumble clothing recycling trade, Trans-Americas must wring out every penny of logistics and transportation costs from each garment it sends abroad. "We're in a very competitive market place," said Stubin in a recent interview. "Demand for our products is extremely high to the countries we ship."
