Keeping time in U.S. Virgin Islands

Times are tough for watchmakers in the U.S. Virgin Islands, but proposed tweaks to a federal government trade program, along with other recent policy initiatives, not only promise to keep the industry ticking but also attract new investment. The U.S. Virgin Islands government and the islands' watch manufacturers association have asked the Commerce and Interior departments, which oversee the Insular Possessions Watch and Jewelry Program, to remove the price ceiling on watches and watch movements that are eligible for duty-free treatment into U.S. Customs territory.
