Presidential Medal of Freedom Recipients

We are excited to announce that three of this year's 16 recipients of the Presidential Medal of Freedom are Sigma Xi Members. The year 2013 also marked the 50th anniversary of this award, first instituted by President John F. Kennedy in 1963, as the nations highest civilian honor, "presented to individuals who have made especially meritorious contributions to the security or national interests of the United States, to world peace, or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors." The awards will be presented at a ceremony at the White House later this fall. Please join us in congratulating these outstanding Sigma Xi members in this wonderful accomplishment.
