Cummins Opens Center To Offer Custom Engines

Cummins Inc. has opened the Cummins Oil and Gas Center of Excellence in Houston. Like the Cummins Offshore Oil and Gas Center of Excellence in Singapore, the Houston center will provide customized and integrated power packages designed to meet the needs of individual customers, the company says. Both operations perform design and validation testing on integrated equipment, Cummins reports. Cummins indicates the Houston center's first products will be workover rig packages capable of operating anywhere in the world, and certified to the most stringent environmental regulations in California and other nonattainment regions. The company adds that the center will be able to integrate its QTR transmissions with its QSK50 or QSK60 engines. Other products include land-based drilling power modules, hazardous-area packages, pump drive packages, and oil field power generator sets.
