Determination of Genetic Relationships of Albari?o and Loureira Cultivars with the Cai?o Group by Microsatellites

The grapevine germplasm bank EVEGA contains 135 accessions of 15 Galician cultivars. Analysis with 33 polymorphic microsatellites (SSRs) indicate that Albarino and Loureira could be related to the Caino group in western Galicia, Spain. Likelihood ratios support the hypothesis of significant parentage relationship between Albarino and Cai?o Bravo as parents of Cai?o Blanco. Loureira shared alleles for each locus with Cai?o Bravo, indicating close relationship by hybridization. Caifio Bravo was related directly with four cultivars (Cai?o Blanco, Cai?o Longo, Castanal, and Loureira) and with two others (Cai?o Redondol and Souson), with which it shared 32 of 33 loci, indicating that it could be the origin of this lineage, as the key cultivar of the Caifio group
