Yet each listing starting with the April 1978 issue - when AF's Social Register of Big Trees officially became the National Register - has seemed a glaring void because we have yet to include the trees of our 50th state, Hawaii. Because of this, not only is the register title a misnomer, but it causes our listing to be deprived of many of our nation's unique and exceptional trees.
