The Wisconsin Fabricare Institute (WFI) has scheduled the first of its three-part seminar for owners and managers, "Motivating & Communicating with Your Employees," for June 24 at the Waukesha County Administration Center in Waukesha, Wis. Dan Martino, of Martino's Master Dry Cleaners in Kenosha, Wis., will lead the seminar, explaining the ongoing process of employee motivation. Martino will cover topics such as attracting the right employees, training, and awarding raises and bonuses. Martino is a third-generation operator who began working at his father's plant at age nine as a "custodial engineer" and moved to the front counter at age 16. Martino attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and graduated from Carthage College with a degree in business administration in 1994. He passed the International Fabricare Institute's (IFI) Advanced Drycleaning course in 1996. The second workshop in WFI's series, "Employment Law 101," will be held in October. The workshop will focus on legal issues surrounding hiring, firing, discrimination and harassment. The third seminar, scheduled for March 2005, will focus on goal-setting, time management and organization.
