When the California Cleaners Association (CCA) announced last year that it would award one lucky California cleaner with a complete lobby makeover, Vivian Bowers—a second-generation cleaner and the owner of Bowers & Sons Cleaners in South Central Los Angeles—didn't think much of her chances of winning."Certainly it was worth the application, but because of where we are, I didn't think we'd be chosen," Bowers says. "Sometimes even the rest of Los Angeles forgets that we're here."
