摘要

Hydrogen evolution from water by harnessing clean and abundant solar energy depicts a blue print of the ultimate solution regarding current global energy crisis and environmental issues. Since the ground breaking work of Fujishima and Honda,1 hydrogen generation from water has been extensively studied. A myriad of semiconductors have been reported for their ability to split water under UV light irradiation.2 It is well known that UV light constitutes less than 5% of the solar spectrum. Compared with UV light, visible light contains ~ 45% of the solar energy. Therefore, the development of efficient visible light absorbing photocatalysts is important to effectively utilize solar energy.
