The fondant-covered tiers were accented with a gray ribbon to match the cake-drum trim, and bordered with a tiny snail's trail piped with royal icing and a small, round tip.rn"I made this simple birthday cake to use up some left over frosting that I had from a cake I made earlier in the week," wrote Shelli Andros of Sheldon, Wis. Beginning with a round cake iced smoothly in white buttercream, she used tip #3 to pipe the side decorations and the lettering on top of the cake. The silly face was piped with tip #10, then flattened with a finger dipped in corn starch. Colorful borders were piped with a star tip.
