Sugar Art for Autism 2020

Sugar Art for Autism is a group of sugar artists from all corners of the globe and all levels of notoriety and expertise working to create a heartfelt and meaningful collection of edible art to promote autism awareness. In our previous collaborations, each member proudly celebrated those with autism by creating pieces where they drew inspiration from various avenues, including therapy tools, artwork, books, movies, fashion, and loved ones. Last year’s collaboration centered around using inspiration from the fashion designer and artist ANDOLSEK. This year, we take you on a journey of inspiration and awareness. We have again proudly partnered with ANDOLSEK but with a twist. We returned to our roots where our members were free to select inspiration from any autism-related source—from artwork, literature, fashion, and people. The twist? Mr. Andolsek has personally sketched a fashion design inspired by each cake artist’s contribution! Last year’s muse is now drawing inspiration from us. This year, we also ran a contest. All collaboration pieces were sent anonymously to judges from the cake industry, fashion industry, and autism community. The winner will get to design a fashion accessory with Mr. Andolsek. In addition, this new accessory will bear the winning cake artist’s name. Mr. Andolsek said, “It is a great privilege to collaborate with the unique community of Sugar Art for Autism. These cake designers are not only talented artists but kindhearted individuals who selflessly set aside time each year to create something meaningful to direct people’s attention to autism…A campaign that I hope everyone will enjoy as we strive to reduce negative thoughts associated with autism.” We hope our efforts this year can highlight how to be inspired and how to be aware and our collaboration is just one example of how we can inspire each other every day in every way.
