Gol sets new goals

When COL began operations on January 15, 2001, executives at vaunted Varig (Airways, May 2003 & May 2001) dismissed the low-cost carrier, predicting it would be a 'flash in the pan'. Contrary to Varig's expectations, COL achieved immediate success, growing from six Boeing 737s to become the second-largest airline in the country and the largest LCC in Latin America.
