Every airport, large or small, needs a practised routine to deal with the risks that foreign object debris (FOD) poses to aircraft; there are numerous examples of even small items that can cause damage costing millions to fix. The busier the operation, the more frequent the risk and there are few busier than Germany's primary international gateway, Frankfurt Main (IATA: FRA).
