Over the years, the popularity of 3D laser scanning has grown significantly in all industrial sectors, including the aero-engine industry. As the complexity of part geometry has increased, the pressure to get products to market faster and less expensively has grown. Laser scanning, with its ability to quickly and accurately capture measurement data of free-form shapes, is an excellent method of satisfying such requirements. It can play a pivotal role in designing, testing, manufacturing and maintaining aero-engines faster, more accurately and with less expense.
